Name: Sophie Shogren
Major/minor: Biology major; Chemistry and Philosophy minors
Hometown: Park Rapids, Minn.
Favorite St. Kate’s event: I enjoy going to the Sister Seraphim Gibbons Undergraduate Research Symposium that is held annually each May. At this poster session, students from all majors present research that they have worked on throughout the school year. It is a great way to discover research opportunities that are available within your major and learn about the scholastic endeavors of your peers.
Most productive study spot: When I need to get away from my desk, I love studying at one of the coffee shops within walking distance of campus, such as Espresso Royale and Quixotic Coffee. Another awesome plus is that St. Kate’s students can use their student discount cards to purchase $2.25 lattes at Espresso Royale.
Favorite store near campus: I am short and need many things tailored, which can get expensive. Highland Tailors will make your clothes look like a million bucks in a few days’ time without emptying your wallet.
Most used cell phone app: Twitter–I like following news accounts to keep up on current events.
Best place to take a homework break: The Mississippi River Road is my favorite place to walk, run, and bike when I need a break.
