Town hall for the 100% – ‘Nuns on the Bus’ tour visits St. Kate’s

On Wednesday, September 24, 2014 NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus arrived at St. Kate’s to discuss “We the People, We the Voters!”, the Nuns on the Bus current tour around the country. At 3:00 p.m.  St. Kate’s and Minnesota community members gathered in the Rauenhorst Ballroom, Coeur de Catherine at St. Kate’s to listen to the Nuns on the Bus discuss the importance of civil voting, how we should encourage others to vote and how we should demand that candidates be responsible for their decisions and actions once elected. NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus is a campaign of NETWORK, A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby founded by 47 Catholic Sisters over 40 years ago. With midterm elections just around the corner, the community of St. Kate’s and Minnesota gathered together to stress the importance of voting and to stand up against big money in this current election term. The Nuns on the Bus tour started in Iowa on September 17, and has continued with a stop in Minnesota, and will move onto Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia and Colorado. The event was co-sponsored by the Myser Initiative on Catholic Identity at St. Kate’s and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates.
