Food for thought

Who doesn’t love to bite into a savory muffin or delicious apple fritter from the local street side cafe? Or how about a home-style meal of mac-n-cheese, or a burger and fries? Whether one is coming or going, it’s always a wonder of where the good stuff that all the locals know about is served. Luckily for Katie’s, there are a great deal of intriguing restaurants waiting just around the corner. The Wheel presents the top five must-try restaurants within walking distance.

1. Punch Pizza – 704 Cleveland Ave S, St Paul, MN 55116 ~ 10 minute walk
A little slice of Naples, Italy, where pizza was born, Punch Pizza is home to an extensive menu with endless options of toppings and numerous salads, creating what seems to be a thousand different ways to mix up meals. On top of their delicious menu, Punch Pizza pays their employees ten dollars an hour. Seems like quite the restaurant, right?

2. Tiffany’s Sports Lounge – 2051 Ford Pkwy, St Paul, MN 55116 ~13 minute walk
In need of a juicy burger, or fries seasoned to perfection? “Tiff’s” restaurant is the place to go. Not only do they serve gourmet burgers, but they also offer five flavors of wings and too many appetizers to choose from. Tiff’s menu even includes a choice of dessert once the meal is finished.

3. Highland Cafe and Bakery – 2012 Ford Parkway St. Paul, MN 55116 ~ 15 minute walk
Looking for a sit-down, relaxing environment to enjoy some comfort food for breakfast or lunch? Head over to Highland Cafe and Bakery for a warm plate of pancakes, or a box lunch to hit the road with. The employees are hospitable and inviting, making this restaurant feel like home. They also serve some of the best pie around.

4. Noodles & Company – 2110 Ford Pkwy, St Paul, MN 55116 ~ 15 minute walk

5. Chatterbox – 800 Cleveland Ave S St Paul, MN ~15 minute walk
Board games, trivia and multiple TV’s hooked up to old-style Mario games surround the tables and booths in the Chatterbox Pub, making it the perfect choice for a fun, competitive game night with friends. Chatterbox is known more for their board game friendly environment than their food, although they offer a variety of unique options, including a build-your-own pizza menu.

Food is a common ground between people, and conversation over a meal can be the perfect way to get to know someone new, or catch up with an old friend. After all the homework is done, venture out to the streets of Highland Village with a couple of friends, or even a date, and explore the taste sensations.
