Oct. 1st marked the second annual Menchie’s Fun Run. Last year was the first Menchie’s Fun Run, and there was overall positive feedback. This year about 80 students participated in the event, which is a little less than last year’s event were more than one hundred students attended.

The reason behind the Menchie’s Fun Run is to further the relations between Menchie’s and St. Kate’s.

“Menchie’s is a great sponsor of St. Kate’s and really close by. We wanted to be able to partner with them and do things with them. They’re also on students’ discount cards now,” Sophia Niemeyer, ’16 said.

The run was originally planned for Sept. 23, but the run had to be postponed for a week due to weather. In the week leading up to the original date of the event, Niemeyer was watching the weather, but thought it wouldn’t be too much of an issue.

“I was a little too confident thinking it wouldn’t rain last week,” Niemeyer said.

Of the students that participated, many had great things to say.

“I really like Menchie’s and this way I get it for free, which is awesome,” Tanifa Nguyen, ’18 said.

“This is the definition of America,” Annette Handy, ’17 said. “You run for free ice cream.”
